Py CU Coding Sundays at the Makerspace
Are you curious about coding, new to programming, or simply looking for a friendly, supportive space to learn together? The Urbana Coding Meetup welcomes everyone; young and old, beginners and seasoned coders, and people from all backgrounds. No coding experience is required, just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
Join us this Sunday, September 14th from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the Urbana Makerspace.
What to Expect
- Welcoming environment: All ages and experience levels are encouraged to participate.
- Hands-on learning: Every session will feature group activities, coding tutorials, and opportunities to collaborate.
- Guidance and sharing: Ask questions, pair up for learning, or contribute your knowledge to help others.
- Flexible participation: Work on your own projects or join group coding challenges.
Focus on Python
Our sessions will primarily center around Python—one of the most popular, beginner-friendly programming languages. You’ll learn:
- How to set up Python environments smoothly on your laptop
- Choosing and using IDEs (like VS Code, PyCharm, Jupyter, etc.)
- Managing Python versioning for projects
- Programming basics, from data types to real-world problem solving
First Session: Building Collaboration
To kick off our first meetup, we’ll set up a shared GitHub repository for the group. Don’t worry if you’re new to GitHub! We’ll walk through the setup together so everyone feels comfortable. This repository will be our digital playground for tutorials, code samples, helpful resources, and collaborative projects.
Whether you want to learn Python, mentor others, or simply have fun coding in good company, there’s a seat for you at our table.
Join the Journey!
See you Sundays at the Makerspace—let’s learn, create, and build community through coding!
